ABOUT PARSONS RIDGE

The Dobson Family has been farmers, butchers & bakers for the last 200 years, evolving their business interests as times and habits have changed.

in the 1990's the director Mr Alan Dobson and his son Andrew Dobson identified an opportunity for diversification away from core farming with the supply of farm produce directly to the general public by attendance at markets & events. This was accompanied by a small scale venture into food & product preparation. 

In 2010 the Dobson family re-located to Old House Farm, Dingestow. The market business had expanded steadily and at Old House Farm the family constructed a small purpose built factory and manufacturing unit which enabled them to expand the range of produce which could be made available for sale at Markets. 

The business prospered to the point where it became a major contributor to the business overall. Its particular strengths were its association with home reared, rare breed meat, raised on the farm, the quality of that produce and a clear identification of a family business.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



As covid hit in 2020 the business struggled as did everyone in those uncertain times, events & Markets were cancelled which meant a huge loss was due. Although government support was available on the farm of the furlough scheme & a range of small grants, these did not replace the whole of the losses which Parsons Nose was incurring. 

After the difficulty of the pandemic, things seemed to improve & there were exciting times ahead for the family. 

Unfortunately in early 2023 Mr Andrew Dobson very unexpectedly passed away. This obviously cause mass distress & upset for the family as Andrew was a huge part of everything. Mr Alan Dobson faced some uncertain times ahead but at the grand age of 84 decided things were not going to stop there. 

After a total rebrand & new members of staff on hand, he decided to kick start the business so all of Andrews hard work & legacy can live on.

At Parsons Ridge, we rear or source all of the produce ourselves and offer complete traceability for our customers to ensure that the highest levels of animal welfare are adhered to.

We passionately believe in the quality of the meat produced from these animals that have been reared in totally free range environments and fed only on natural foods that are free of any form of growth promoters.
